The Supreme Authentic Rice Pilaf
Rice Pilaf is a savory, aromatic rice dish cooked in a flavorful broth with sautéed onions and butter. It’s a classic rice dish that’s simple to make in one pot or skillet. It’s one of our favorite dishes in our house. Easy to make!!!
Yield: 4 Servings
Ingredients
8 oz. Long-grain Jasmine Rice or Basmati
1 oz. Butter (or olive oil)
2 oz. Medium onion, small dice
-14 fl oz. Chicken or vegetable broth
to taste Kosher Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350’ F
- Melt the butter in a saucepan
- Sweat onions until soft and translucent, avoid to brown them
- Add the rice and stir so it’s completely coated in the hot fat
- Add in the boiling stock and bring the mixture back to a boil
- Season with salt and cover with a foil
- Bake the covered saucepan in a 350’ F oven for 20 min. All the liquid should be fully absorbed and completely dried with firefly texture.
- Taste the rice for doneness. Add 5 minutes or less if underdone or still wet.
- Transfer the finished rice to a bowl and fluff with a fork to release steam and prevent further cooking
- Adjust seasoning and serve, adding a bit of unsalted butter if desired
